The honourable Chief Justice of Samoa Satiu Simativa Perese is booked to return to Samoa on today’s repatriation flight from Auckland, New Zealand.
Just a few months after being sworn in, Samoa’s Chief Justice was taken to New Zealand in October last year for medical treatment after spending a week at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole National Hospital.
In his absence, Justice Mata Keli Tuatagaloa was appointed Acting Chief Justice and has been leading Samoa’s Judiciary for the past six months.
Afioga Satiu Simativa Perese took over as Samoa’s Chief Justice in June 2020 from Justice Vui Clarence Nelson who had been acting for almost a year since the retirement of Patu Tiavasu’e Falefatu Sapolu, who was at the helm of Samoa’s Judiciary for 27 years.
