The appointment of Afioga Saofaapito Fiame Naomi Mataafa as the leader for Samoa’s newest political party Faatuatua i Le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) political party has been applauded by caretaker Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.
Tuilaepa expressed his congratulatory message during his weekly TV3 program yesterday, saying he has known Honorable Fiame for 35 years since she joined the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) in 1985.
Tuilaepa believes that the selection of Fiame to become the new FAST Party leader is the right decision by the members of this political party because Fiame has credibility and is a well respected leader in Samoa.
“E sili atu ona maua le credibility ia Fiame i lo le isi vaega, pau le latou mea e fai e o ane e tautua le Saofaapito.”
“O ia o se taitai e faaaloalogia tele e le atunuu.”
“I’ve known her for so long and I know her style,” he said.
“Ua leva na ma fai fai mea faatasi ma ua ou iloa ana style.”
“E sili atu ona maua le credibility ia Fiame o lo ole isi vaega pau le latou mea e fai e o ane e tautua le Sao Faapito.”
“O ia o se taitai e faaaloalogia tele e le atunuu.”
Fiame was chosen to be the leader of the Faatuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) Political Party on Tuesday after a membership meeting where Laaulialemalietoa was endorsed as Deputy leader over Olo Fiti Vaai.
Leading up to the general elections, FAST party now has one confirmed member of Parliament with Fiame uncontested.
In 2016 the ruling Human Rights Protection Party secured 49 of Samoa’s Parliamentary seats including Independent candidates who declared for HRPP after the elections.
FAST has 53 candidates running in the upcoming general elections including 22 Savaii and 31 from Upolu.
