20 September 2023 Apia Samoa. Vodafone Samoa have announced that Miss Samoa 2022, Miss Haylani Pearl Mataupu Kuruppu will represent Samoa at the Miss Global Pageant, to be held in Vietnam from 11-25Â November 2023.
Haylani reigned as Miss Samoa 2022 when the pageant was sponsored by Vodafone. She was a contestant after being crowned Miss Melbourne, representing the Samoa diaspora in Australia.
Miss Kuruppu was first runner up at the Miss Pacific Islands 2022 and will now be crowned Miss Global Samoa 2023.
Ms Kuruppu achieved fantastic milestones in her reign as Miss Samoa and will go down in history as the first Miss Samoa to have published a book during her tenure.
Haylanni: the Journey to Miss Samoa is a children’s book launched with the support of Samoa Stationery and Books.
Haylani is a social worker and fitness trainer who also hopes to represent Samoa in basketball. She is also studying physiotherapy at the Australia Catholic University.
In a press release, Vodafone confirms they will arrange for a two-week overseas training for Haylani in Asia in the lead-up to the Miss Global Pageant.
“She will be trained by some of the best trainers in the world,” says Vodafone Chief Executive Rana Bose.
“They have trained the Miss World and Miss Universe contestants and some of them have won a number of world titles,” he added.
The crowning of Miss Haylani Kuruppu as Miss Global Samoa will happen at the Vodafone Samoa headquarters at a date to be soon announced.
“Vodafone wishes Haylani best wishes for the Miss Global 2023 Pageant.”
