Happy Thursday Saints.
Philippians 3:13 “BUT ONE THING I DO: FORGETTING WHAT IS BEHIND, AND STRAINING TOWARD WHAT IS AHEAD.”
A big part of being kind to ourselves is learning how to have a better attitude towards our own mistakes and failures.
As I mentioned yesterday – we all face setbacks. We’ve all messed up at some point. We’ve all done things that we regret and said things that we know we shouldn’t have. We’ve all made bad decisions and we’ve had to face the disastrous consequences. But we can’t change the past and we certainly can’t afford to continue beating ourselves up over what we cannot reverse.
One of the keys to overcoming the past and getting over our failures is learning from our mistakes.
When we are unkind to ourselves we try to punish ourselves for our failures by letting them torment us in the present.
When we don’t love ourselves, we think that we don’t deserve to be happy and so we sabotage any hopes of succeeding in life. This downward spiralling belief makes us hate ourselves even more as we destroy every opportunity to learn, grow, and change.
Sadly, the more we torment ourselves, the more we dislike who we are and the more we mistreat the people around us (at no fault of their own). We are so mad with ourselves that we end up being cruel to everyone.
But, if we will use the past to learn from, then instead of our failures being a stumbling block to the present, they can be a stepping stone into a better and brighter future.
It’s never too late to change. It’s not too late to start being kind to yourself about past losses and disappointments. The kinder you are with yourself, the kinder you’ll be to others. Then your love for others will become something really worth giving.
Have an awesome day. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
