DON’T BE EASILY UNSETTLED

2Thessalonians 2:1-2 “Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us, whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter, asserting that the day of the Lord has already come.”

The Thessalonians had become unsettled by claims that the day of the Lord had already come. Some information was even being falsely attributed to Paul, but his response was simple; don’t be easily unsettled or alarmed.

That’s good advice for Christians today. Every generation seems to produce sensational claims about the return of Christ. Wars, earthquakes, political events, new technology, dates, numbers, and world leaders are sometimes presented as undeniable proof that someone has finally worked out exactly where we are on God’s prophetic calendar.

We should certainly believe that Jesus is coming again. Scripture clearly teaches that, but biblical hope shouldn’t become prophetic panic.

Our confidence rests in what God has revealed in Scripture, not rumours, predictions, supposed revelations, or sensational interpretations of current events. JESUS’ RETURN SHOULD GIVE US HOPE, NOT KEEP US IN A CONSTANT STATE OF FEAR.

We don’t need to chase every new end-times theory. STAY GROUNDED IN GOD’S WORD. Keep following Jesus, keep sharing the gospel, keep loving people, and keep living faithfully. Christ will return at the time appointed by God, so until then, don’t be easily unsettled.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise that Jesus will return. Protect me from fear, speculation, and sensational claims. Keep me firmly grounded in Your Word and help me to live faithfully, share the gospel, and look forward to Christ’s return with hope. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Have a wonderful weekend. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
