WAITING IN HOPE

Galatians 5:5 “For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.”

Paul now contrasts two ways of living. The false teachers trusted in the flesh. They relied on law, effort, and outward performance. But the believer lives differently.

“For through the Spirit…” The Christian life is sustained by the Spirit of God, not human striving. We don’t produce righteousness through self-effort. We walk in dependence upon Him.

“And eagerly await by faith…” There is both present assurance and future hope in the Christian life. We are already justified in Christ, yet we still await the full completion of what God has promised.

One day, we will stand before Him fully transformed, fully conformed to Christ, and completely free from sin. This is our hope. Not uncertain wishing or anxious striving, but confident expectation grounded in God’s promise.

And notice how we wait… “By faith.” Not by works or by performance, but by trusting in Christ and the work of His Spirit within us. The Christian life isn’t restless striving to secure acceptance. It is patient, hopeful dependence on what God has already promised and will certainly complete.

We live by faith, walk by the Spirit, and wait in hope for the fullness of the righteousness God has promised. WHAT GOD BEGAN, HE WILL FINISH.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the hope I have in Christ. Teach me to walk by Your Spirit and to wait by faith for the day when Your work in me is complete. Guard me from striving in my own strength and anchor me in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
