The work of the Poutasi Development Trust (PDT) project has received a boost from the National Bank of Samoa.

The Poutasi project, run by community leader afioga Tuatagaloa Joe Annandale, is a charitable organisation in Samoa focused on the social, cultural and educational development of Poutasi Village and its surrounding communities in the Falealili and Siumu districts and beyond.

The trust engages in various initiatives to improve the lives of the villagers, including promoting sustainable livelihoods, enhancing skills, fostering environmental stewardship, and developing the village as a tourist destination.

Tuatagaloa has been instrumental in facilitating seasonal work opportunities in New Zealand and Australia, helping to generate income for the unemployed, and boost economic growth for the district.

National Bank of Samoa Chief Executive, afioga Papalii Sam Swann said they are honored to provide a sponsorship of $5,000 in support of the Poutasi Project.

“This contribution reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable community development and empowering local initiatives.”

Earlier this year, the National Bank of Samoa rolled out a program to support Recognised Seasonal Employees (RSE Workers) with banking services and Financial Literacy Education in Poutasi, Falealili.

Feb 2025: The NBS team at Poutasi Falealili rolling out financial services and financial literacy education to RSE workers.

Head of Retail Banking, Antonia Schwalger-Potoi said the initiative is part of the Bank’s ongoing commitment to support the RSE community.

“We offer information on crucial banking services designed to empower and assist RSE workers with their financial needs.”
