Translated from FaaSamoa. The Samoa Police have been slammed for issuing a “wanted” notice for a murder suspect almost five days after the shooting of a youth from Taufusi.
The shooting took place last Thursday and members of the public say the identity of the suspected shooter, Semisi Aliimatafitafi, has been well known since then.
Social media has been flooded with unconfirmed reports regarding the deceased as well as the suspect since the shooting took place.
However information was not forthcoming from Police in response to questions from the media, with the Commissioner stating that a public announcement would be made in due time by their newly established media department.
Semisi is a well known criminal from Faleasiu with an established rap sheet for burglary and assault. He resided in the Apia-Matautu area and used to run a food stall selling oka infront of Frankie’s Matautu.
Last night, Police issued a Wanted Notice seeking the public’s help to find Semisi Aliimatafitafi.
“The suspect is wanted by Police in relation to an ongoing homicide investigation regarding an incident reported last week.”
Samoa Police cautioned the public to not approach the armed and dangerous suspect.
Police warn that it is a crime to knowingly horbour someone who is a criminal and is wanted by police.
Authorities are also calling on the suspect Semisi Aliimatafitafi, to turn himself in.
