A LIFE OF THANKSGIVING
Ephesians 5:20 “Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Paul calls believers to a posture of continual gratitude. Thanksgiving here isn’t tied to circumstances, but to relationship. We give thanks to God the Father, grounded in trust, and in the name of Jesus, resting in His finished work.
“Always” and “for everything” don’t suggest denial of pain or hardship. Rather, they point to a deeper confidence—that God is present, faithful, and at work even when life is complicated. Gratitude anchors the heart in truth when emotions waver.
Thankfulness reshapes how we see the world. It shifts our focus from what is lacking to what has been graciously given. Over time, a thankful heart becomes a humble, content, and worshipful heart.
Paul reminds us that thanksgiving is part of our worship. When gratitude becomes our habit, it guards us against bitterness and keeps our hearts tender before God.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in every season of life. Teach me to live with a grateful heart, trusting You even when I don’t understand. Let thanksgiving shape my words, my attitude, and my worship, for the glory of Jesus. Amen.
