GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE
1Thessalonians 4:3-5 “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honourable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God.”
Many Christians ask, “What is God’s will for my life?” While we often think about careers, relationships, or future decisions, Paul gives a very clear answer. “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified.”
Sanctification means being set apart for God and becoming more like Jesus Christ. God desires that every believer grows in holiness. Paul immediately applies this to an area where many people struggle: sexual purity.
The culture of Thessalonica accepted sexual immorality as normal. Our culture is no different. We live in a world where sexual sin is celebrated, pornography is easily accessible, marriage is often dishonoured, and God’s design for human sexuality is constantly rejected. Yet God’s standard has never changed. He calls His people to honour Him with both their bodies and their minds.
Paul says believers are to “learn to control” their bodies in a way that’s holy and honourable. Self-control isn’t simply a matter of human determination. It’s the fruit of a life that’s surrendered to the Holy Spirit and shaped by the Word of God. Every day we make choices about what we watch, what we read, what we think about, and how we respond to temptation. Holiness is cultivated through those daily decisions.
Notice the contrast Paul makes. Those who don’t know God are driven by their passions. Those who know God are called to live differently. Our lives should reflect the transforming power of the gospel. We don’t pursue purity to earn God’s love… we pursue purity because we already belong to Him and desire to honour Him.
Ask yourself today, “Are my thoughts, my desires, and my actions pleasing to the Lord?” God’s will is not hidden. He desires that His children live holy lives that reflect the character of Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to a life of holiness. Help me to honour You with my body, my mind, and my heart. Strengthen me to resist temptation and to walk in purity each day. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that my life reflects the character of Jesus Christ. May everything I do bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Have a great day. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
