Saturday 15 January 2022, Apia Samoa. Doctors at Motootua National Hospital say former Samoa Prime Minister Hon Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi is doing well and on the road to recovery.

When Samoa Global News visited the Intensive Care Unit of the Tupua Tamasese Meaole (TTM) National Hospital on Saturday afternoon, health care workers said Tuilaepa was resting.
“It was the flu that affected his lungs and his breathing, but he is recovering well”.

According to health care workers, Hon Tuilaepa has received many visitors from Members of Parliament and government leaders.
“There was a asiga from Laaulialemalietoa and his constituency who came yesterday, and he has also had visits asiga from several Cabinet Ministers”.
“But he is resting now..”
Tuilaepa is seen with oxygen tubes and monitors to his chest, but doctors say these are precautionary measures as they continue to monitor his recovery.
Tuilaepa served as Samoa’s Prime Minister for 21 years and has had an almost perfect bill of health during that time.
