CABINET APPOINTS NEW G.M. TO LEAD THE SAMOA AIRPORT AUTHORITY

(GOVT.PRESS SECRETARY)- The Samoa Airport Authority has a new General Manager inked by Cabinet at its weekly meeting today, 13th Wednesday 2023.

A seasonal staff with the Airport Authority complemented with ten years working in senior management posts, Tumanuvao Evile Falefatu was recommended by the panel which interviewed the 5 applicants to be new GM for the Airport.

A Gautavai Primary School alumni, Tumanuvao continued his tertiary education with Samoa College graduating in 1998 and moving on to the National University of Samoa’s Foundation Year.

After Papaigalagala, he took time out from his education journey to fullfil his religious commitment serving a two year mission for the Latter Day Saints of Samoa.

On his return, he resume his education pursuit with the Alafua USP Campus where he secured a four year scholarship to attend the Fiji School of Medicine. He graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from FSM and recently he completed his Masters in Business Administration.

Tumanuvao’s public service career kicked off with the Ministry of Health in 2009.

And four years later, he switched career codes to the civil aviation where he has been working as the Manager for Security Services responsible for over 100 staff members for the last ten years until today.

As Manager, Tumanuvao is responsible for incorporating the pandemic health safety at the airport and prepared the health safety manual during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With his technical hands on and on the job training experiences, the Panel noted that his Bachelor of Pharmacy, although a different discipline covers health security and public health emergencies which will establish the Faleolo International Airport as a safe and secure point of entry for travelers to and from Samoa.

The appointment is for 3 years.
