A 14 year old boy appeared in the Supreme Court of Samoa during criminal mentions on Monday morning, facing sexual assault charges against a young girl under 12 years old.
Represented by legal counsel, Aeau Tima Leavai, the 14 year old pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against him.
According to the Police file the incident took place in Savaii.
Justice Niava Mata Tuatagaloa granted an application for bail filed by Counsel.
The young boy shall stay in the village agreed by the Court, and not make contact with the victim. He was also told to not be in the vicinity of any young girls.
The Court has set a hearing date in 2024 and considered the transfer of this matter to the Youth Court due to the age of the accused.
In another matter before the Courts this week, three men are facing charges of incest and sexual violation towards a 9 year old girl in incidents that allegedly occurred between 2010 – 2013 reported to Police this year.
The accused in that matter are the girls father, her father’s grandfather and the old man’s friend.
