Vodafone Samoa has launched another first; with free 4G WiFi services on the MV Lady Samoa III servicing the Savaii-Upolu inter-island route.
The free on-board WIFI launched over the Festive Period is available to all passengers, whether they are on the Vodafone network or not. It is also available throughout the ferry; on both top decks as well as the air-conditioned cabin.
Vodafone CEO Nofoasaefa Satish Sharma says Vodafone was the first to provide Samoans FREE WiFi on land, at Fiafia Park and is now once again the first to provide FREE WiFi on the sea via the MV lady Samoa vessel.
“This is our way of giving back to the community. It is our Christmas Gift for all those who will be boarding the ferry over the festive season,” he said.
Nofoasaefa Satish Sharma hopes passengers will enjoy the new, free WiFi service and make the best use of their time without worrying about the internet cost. This will boost the local tourism, help people stay connected, enjoy social media and keep up to date with the latest news during their journey. He further adds, Vodafone is always ahead of times in committing to the community by means of this latest initiative.
“Providing wireless internet connections in a marine environment can be challenging, and we have taken time to complete extensive trials to ensure our 3G/4G service are up to satisfactory level and ensure passengers with good connectivity throughout the journey,” said Nofoasaefa Satish.
Samoa Shipping Corporation is pleased to be in this partnership with Vodafone Samoa in support of this great initiative for the benefit of the people of Samoa especially travellers between the two islands, Upolu and Savaii.
“As part of our community and social obligations, as a way of giving back to society, Samoa Shipping Corporation is always supportive of initiatives that benefits its people especially the people of Savaii”, says SSC General Manager Leiataua Samuel Phineas.
