29 December 2022, Apia Samoa. A stowaway was discovered on a Fiji Airways flight that departed Apia for Nadi on Christmas Eve.
Deputy Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti said investigations are currently underway as to how the woman managed to board the flight without being detected by airport security, immigration or customs.
The woman is alleged to have also managed to remain hidden from passengers and crew on the plane for the two hour flight.
“She was not discovered until the aircraft touched down in Fiji, suspected to have hidden in the aircraft toilets for most of the flight.
She may have defied officials in Apia but the stowaway woman seemed to have had no plan for getting through officials in Fiji. She was returned to Samoa on the same flight.
Papalii says several charges are expected to be brought against the woman once Police investigations are complete.
