12 January 2022, Press Secretariat. The Samoa Cabinet has approved flights in and out of the country for the first three months of 2022. As has been the case for the past two years since border lockdowns, the flights are for the repatriation of Samoan citizens, and to transport approved seasonal workers to and from New Zealand and Australia for short term employment.
FLIGHT SCHEDULE FOR JANUARY 2022
Three chartered flights by Qantas have been confirmed to depart Samoa on the 14th 20th and 25th of January 2022 – to uplift seasonal workers from Samoa to Australia.
There are also two chartered Air New Zealand flights to uplift RSE workers outbound for New Zealand, scheduled for the 26th and 29th of January 2022.
In terms of repatriation flights from Auckland, there is one flight from New Zealand scheduled to arrive on Saturday 22nd January 2022.
FLIGHT SCHEDULE FOR FEBRUARY 2022
There are five Air New Zealand chartered flights from Samoa to New Zealand to take RSE workers – scheduled for the 5th – 9th – 12th – 16th and 19th of February 2022.
For seasonal workers to Australia, there are two chartered Quantas flights set for the 2nd & 16th of February 2022. The same flights are also scheduled to bring seasonal workers back from Australia to Samoa.
There is also an additional Qantas flight on the 10th of February 2022, chartered to uplift seasonal workers from Samoa to Australia.
For repatriation of Samoan citizens and for citizens returning to Samoa having taken advantage of the one-way MIQ-free arrangement with New Zealand, there is one flight from Auckland on the 26th of February 2022.
FLIGHT SCHEDULE FOR MARCH 2022
There are two chartered Quantas flights to take seasonal workers from Samoa to Australia on the 2nd and 16th of March 2022.
There is one repatriation flight from Auckland to Samoa scheduled for the 19th of March 2022.
Samoa’s Travel Advisory is also continuing with the timeframe of three weeks for the mandatory quarantine period for all returning passengers.
The National Emergency Operation Centre (N.E.O.C.) has been tasked to coordinate and monitor these flights, while the Ministry of Health continues to lead the COVID-19 border protection, through enforcement of compliance with Samoa’s travel advisory.
