Samoa has launched its first Interagency Essential Services Guide published in both English and Samoan, as a response to help eradicate Gender Based Violence and promote Child Protection.

According to a release by the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development (MWCSD), the Interagency Essential Services Guide.. facilitates the survivor based approach for Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, providing referral guidelines, standards and practical procedures for all relevant stakeholders.

 

Published in both English and Samoan

An initiative of the Minister for Ministry of Women Community and Social Development (MWCSD), Associate Minister Afioga Salausa Dr John Ah Ching delivered the keynote address at an official service at Tanoa Tusitala Hotel last week.

The CEO of MWCSD, Afamasaga Faauiga Mulitalo, stated that this Guideline was supported by the Social Sector partners, including government Ministries, NGOs and community representatives through their invaluable participation and contribution during consultations.

“Their role in the design of the Interagency Essential Services Guide as well as the implementation is vital in ensuring the service delivery in response to gender based violence and child protection reaches the standard required”, said Afamasaga.

Samoa’s first Interagency Essential Services Guide was supported by: Pacific Partnership to End Violence Against Women and Girls (Pacific Partnership) supported by the European Union and Australian Government with technical support from the UN Agencies; UNWomen, UNICEF & UNFPA.
