Happy Wednesday Saints.
Galatians 5:22-23 “BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, FORBEARANCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL. AGAINST SUCH THINGS, THERE IS NO LAW.”
As we saw yesterday, the deeds of the FLESH are called “ACTS.” It’s an indication of what we, as human beings, can DO on our own without God.
But FRUIT is not an ACT. Fruit doesn’t DO anything – it simply grows. Jesus said in John 15:5, “I AM THE VINE; YOU ARE THE BRANCHES. IF YOU REMAIN IN ME AND I IN YOU, YOU WILL BEAR MUCH FRUIT.”
We don’t produce the FRUIT. It’s THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. Jesus stressed the importance of us remaining in Him. We must maintain an ongoing relationship with the Lord so that we can BEAR what He produces.
Jesus is the VINE; we are the BRANCHES. The fruit grows freely and openly as we live under the guidance and influence of the Holy Spirit.
In contrast to the flesh, which ACTS, labours, and strives – the fruit of the Spirit is not our work. We cannot produce the fruit in our own strength.
What we ourselves, and the Mosaic law, cannot achieve can now be done BY THE SPIRIT. But when we are disconnected from the Spirit in any way – we won’t be able to bear His fruit.
The only way for you and I to be consistently fruitful is for us to maintain a strong relationship with the Lord and be unfailingly connected to the vine.
Stay close to God today and be fruitful. God bless, and lots’a love,
Warren
