An important ingredient they heard to ensuring growth, and that without having the courage to make changes – there will be no necessary developments.

The group strongly were reminded of the importance of adapting to whatever necessary changes became evident in their profession, this surely will assure they can shift their ways to cater successfully to the care and needs of patients.

The group were urged on this path by Minister of Health Va’aaoao Salumalo Alofipo and Archbishop Mosese Vitolio Tui at the event.

The theme for the ceremony, “Embracing change: A new Nurses’ journey” said the archbishop caught his attention because he felt it was very fitting.

“If you want to make a difference, you have to have the courage to make a change, we need to make a change for the betterment of our ministry, our endeavour in our service,” he said.

Adding that often change is difficult to be accepted by many – people can be too strong holding on the old ways and refuse to make any adjustments by holding on too tightly.

But urged the nurses to take hold of the changes and confidently adjust their sails for a successful execution of their duties and calling.

Health Minister Va’aaoao reiterated on the theme resonating deeply with the essence of growth and transformation.

“The healthcare landscape is continually evolving – advancements in technology, shifts in patient care paradigms, and the ever – changing dynamics of society,” he said.

“As new nurses, you are at the forefront of this evolution. Change is inevitable in healthcare therefore embracing change is not always easy.”

He reminded them that as new nurses they were the steppingstones into a realm where adaptability and openness to growth will be their most valuable asset.

“Looking ahead, I encourage you to view change as a vital partner in your journey,” he said.

Reminding them that each challenge will be a steppingstone, each newly acquired skill a badge of honor, and each patient interaction a chance to reaffirm their purpose.

“Remember, the true strength of a nurse lies in their ability to adapt and to serve with humility and compassion, regardless of the circumstances. Your future aspirations are boundless,” said the Minister.

“Whether you choose to specialize, pursue further education, or become leaders in healthcare, know that your contributions are vital to the well-being of our communities. Your journey is unique, yet interconnected with the collective mission of promoting health, alleviating suffering, and fostering hope.”

The minister also challenged the newly registered nurses, to embrace change as a path to excellence and transformation, reminding them that their journey begins now – with purpose, pride, and a deep commitment to the health of the Samoan people and future.

He acknowledged the parents, families and mentors of the group for their endless support and prayers leading to each individual’s success in their nursing careers.
