The Honourable Minister for Women, Community and Social Development (MWCSD) met today with StarKist Samoa management to strengthen collaboration and receive an update on support arrangements for Samoan guest workers employed at the cannery.
The meeting was attended by StarKist Samoa General Manager, Injoo Ha, senior management including Tufuga Faafoi Palepua, and the Samoa Consul General to American Samoa, Fata Brian Kaio.
Mr Injoo Ha said the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen relationships and provide a status update on initiatives supporting Samoan guest workers, including welfare and accommodation matters. The Hon. Minister welcomed the update and emphasised the importance of collaborative approaches.
“This is a partnership approach, working through our District Councils to ensure Samoan workers are supported with dignity, care, and strong community connections,” the Minister said.
MWCSD will continue to engage with StarKist Samoa and relevant partners as discussions progress.
