Monday 19 January 2026, Apia Samoa. The Government of Samoa will announce a focused and expanded Back-to-School financial support for families in the coming week. The anticipated news was announced by Prime Minister, Hon Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt during a press conference with local media on Monday afternoon.
The Prime Minister said the Ministry of Finance are working on the details, and he would announce it next week.
Laaulialemalietoa hinted at a wider scope of financial support by stating that it would not just be the SNPF dividend.
“E le na o le NPF”
This time last year, over 35,000 SNPF contributors received a 4% dividend pay-out on 27 January in time for students returning to school.
The year before that in January 2024, a 2.7% dividend payout was announced for all contributors.
The SNPF portal is a simple-to-use way for contributors to opt for their dividends to be paid out, or to be added to their total contribution.
A click of the button and the contributor’s dividend pay-out is transferred to their nominated bank account on the same day.
The SNPF is a compulsory savings scheme designed to provide financial security for employees upon retirement, death, or incapacitation.
It manages compulsory member contributions, currently set at 10% from the employee and a matching 10% from the employer.
