Moana Pasifika Rugby have announced the signing of two more Hawkes Bay backs in second five-eight Danny Toala and Lolagi Visinia.
Danny Toala played his high school footy with Hastings Boys who went undefeated in 2017 to win the 1st XV national competition. Straight out of high school Toala was signed by Hawkes Bay.
The 22 year old has represented New Zealand in the U20s level and has also appeared for the Hurricanes four times over the last 3 seasons.
Lolagi Visinia, similar to Toala was a 1st XV champion in his last year of high school. The Kelston Boys alumni signed with Auckland Rugby straight out of high school in 2012 and even appeared for the New Zealand 7’s at just 19 years of age. This impressive curriculum vitae earned him a call up to the NZ U20s where he scored 4 tries in his 4 appearances. Visinia went on to sign with the Blues and represented them 33 times before heading off to play rugby in France and Japan. Since returning to NZ in 2020 Visinia has re-invented himself and regained his form from his early career.
The signing of Ereata Enari, Neria Fomai, Lincoln McClutchie last week, and now Danny Toala and Lolagi Visinia, brings the total of Hawkes Bay players signed by Moana Pasifika to five. All 5 are weekly starters for the Hawkes Bay backline. They will no doubt look to bring this chemistry across to Super Rugby level in 2022.
