Happy Friday Saints.
Proverbs 1:7 “THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS THE BEGINNING OF KNOWLEDGE, BUT FOOLS DESPISE WISDOM AND INSTRUCTION.”
Throughout the Book of Proverbs, you’ll find “WISDOM” calling out to men and women to follow its insights and enjoy salvation and life as God intends for them to have.
“FOLLY” and “FOOLISHNESS” also call out to the same people and offer immediate pleasure and short-lived satisfaction. But they don’t warn them of sins’ dreadful consequences and grievous harm.
This great Book of Wisdom will inspire us to do what is RIGHT, AND JUST, AND FAIR. But it will also warn us and caution us, to prevent us from doing something foolish, immoral or sinful.
“FOOLS DESPISE WISDOM AND INSTRUCTION.” They ignore God’s Word, and after the thrill of their folly has passed, they suffer the consequences.
Wisdom begins with “THE FEAR OF THE LORD.” It starts with the acknowledgement that He is our Creator – He alone knows ALL THINGS – and we are His creation. He is God and Father – and we are His children. He is Lord – and we are His servants.
We must honour and respect Him for who He is and heed His Word. Warren W. Wiersbe states that “It’s not the servile fear of the slave before the master but the reverential and respectful fear of the child before the parent.”
Charles Bridges says that “It is that affectionate reverence by which the child of God bends himself humbly and carefully to His Father’s law.”
If you want to be wise, start with having a reverential trust in the Lord and follow the Book of Proverbs.
Have a great weekend. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
