Happy Tuesday Saints.
Love is expressed through our ACTIONS. It’s not so much about how we feel about others but what WE DO FOR THEM.
1John 4:8 tells us that “GOD IS LOVE.” So, the more we get to know God through the Bible and through prayer, the more we will know what real love is and the more we will be able to love others.
From 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 we see that love is more action than it is feelings. From the list of attributes, we can see that love is about being patient, showing kindness, treating others with honour and respect, putting others before ourselves, not keeping a record of other people’s sins, mistakes or weaknesses, protecting others, and never quitting or giving up on loving people. These aren’t feelings, they are ACTIONS.
Jesus said in John 15:13 “NO ONE HAS GREATER LOVE THAN A PERSON WHO LAYS DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.” And there it is again… the ACTION of putting aside our own wants and needs to serve others and look out for their welfare above our own. Evidently, the greatest display of love is when Jesus gave up His life for us. So love is an ACTION. It’s displayed in what we DO for others.
As we mature, we get better at loving others regardless of how they act towards us or how they make us feel. It’s then, that our love becomes unconditional.
We can reach a level of maturity, where our own ACTS of love are NOT dependent upon others’ actions or their behaviour towards us. We can choose to walk in love and be kind, even when our kindness isn’t being reciprocated. We can act Christ-like regardless of how we are feeling because love is an ACTION.
Walk in love today. Especially with those who don’t make it easy for you.
God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
