His Sacrifice is Sufficient and His Work is Complete

CURSED OR JUSTIFIED. Galatians 3:10–11 “For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.’ Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because ‘the righteous will live by faith.’”

To rely on the law is not a safer path—it’s a dangerous one. The law doesn’t offer partial credit. IT DEMANDS PERFECT, CONTINUAL OBEDIENCE. To fall short at any point is to stand under a curse.

That is the weight of relying on works. The law exposes sin, but it can’t remove it. It reveals our failure, but it can’t rescue us from it. Instead of justifying us, it condemns us.

So Paul makes it clear: “no one… is justified before God” by the law.

Then he gives the only way forward: “THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH.” This is the dividing line. Not by performance. Not by effort. Not by striving. BUT BY FAITH. To live by faith is to rest in what Christ has done—to trust that His righteousness is enough, His sacrifice is sufficient, and His work is complete.

This passage confronts every attempt to earn God’s acceptance. It strips away self-reliance and points us to the only hope we have: justification by faith alone.

The lesson is clear—we either stand on our own works and remain under a curse, or we trust in Christ and are declared righteous. There’s no middle ground.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that we are not justified by our works, but by faith in Jesus Christ. Guard us from relying on our own efforts, and help us to live daily by faith in Your Son. Keep us anchored in the truth that His righteousness is enough. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
