The Fire and Emergency Services Authority responded to a fire in the compound of the residence of former Prime Minister Hon Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi around 6pm on Saturday afternoon.
A storage container of tools and garden equipment had caught on fire.
The Tuanaimato Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) depot is just around the corner and responded quickly to the call, bringing the fire under control within minutes of arriving.
The FESA team had just finished putting out another Saturday afternoon fire in Vailoa when they got the call.
“We were all on hand because we’d just got back to base from the Vailoa incident where we responded to a timber home (fale laupapa).. so when this call came through we all came straight here..”
Damage was contained only to the storage container. No one was hurt and none of the nearby homes were affected by the fire.
