In a dramatic NFC Wild Card game at Soldier Field, the Chicago Bears overcame a large deficit to defeat the Green Bay Packers 31–27 and advance to the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.
The Packers dominated early, taking a 21–3 lead by halftime and stretching it to 21–6 after three quarters thanks largely to Jordan Love, who threw multiple touchdown passes in the first half.
However, Chicago orchestrated a stunning comeback in the fourth quarter. Led by quarterback Caleb Williams, the Bears outscored Green Bay 25–6 in the final period. Williams threw a key 25-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore with about 1:43 remaining, giving Chicago their first lead of the game and ultimately the win.
Williams finished with 361 passing yards and two touchdowns, though he also threw two interceptions. Offensive contributors included Colston Loveland and D’Andre Swift, while Green Bay’s Romeo Doubs had a big receiving game despite the loss.
The Bears’ triumph marked their first playoff victory in 15 years and came after several late-game comebacks throughout the season. Chicago will host their next playoff game in the Divisional Round.
Meanwhile, the Packers saw their season end at 9–8–1, closing with a five-game losing streak. Love’s strong first-half performance wasn’t enough as the offense struggled once Chicago shifted momentum.
Meanwhile the Los Angeles Rams have advanced to the divisional round of the playoffs for the second year in a row after beating the Carolina Panthers 34-31 on Saturday.
The Rams looked like they were going to run away from the Panthers early on, taking a 14-0 lead, but the Panthers stormed back to make it 17-14 at the half. Carolina tied the score in the third quarter and went ahead in the fourth, but after four fourth-quarter lead changes, Los Angeles ended up on top.
