Happy Tuesday Saints.
Matthew 7:5 in the Expanded Bible says, “YOU HYPOCRITE! FIRST TAKE THE WOOD [LOG; PLANK, BEAM] OUT OF YOUR OWN EYE. THEN YOU WILL SEE CLEARLY TO TAKE THE DUST [SPECK; SPLINTER] OUT OF YOUR FRIEND’S [BROTHER’S] EYE.”
It’s more important to deal with the much larger log of wood in your own eye before you start dealing with the tiny speck of dust in someone else’s.
True change starts within yourself. Our self-examination, self-judgement, self-analysis, and self-reformation must come FIRST. As long as we have a LOG in our own eyes, we won’t SEE CLEARLY the best way to help others.
You could say that the tree in our own eyes blinds us, and we deceive ourselves into thinking that we don’t have any issues. The Lord wants you to help others, but before you do, He wants to help YOU.
He wants you to be a beacon of hope. He wants you to help others with their splinters, but He doesn’t want you to do it in an arrogant, judgemental, condescending, or patronising way.
He wants your own God-directed and God-empowered victories to give you the empathy, compassion, and wisdom to guide and support others.
The harsh, judgemental criticism that many offer other people, prevents the recipients from hearing and receiving from those who are blinded by their own vices.
It’s difficult to receive correction and advice from someone with a LOG in their own eyes. But when someone who has been through the same experience offers their pathway to victory – their compassionate approach gives others the confidence to change.
If you really want to make a difference in the lives of others, let God make a difference IN YOU first. Let Him help you remove the LOG out of your own eye.
Happy log-removal day. God bless and lots’a love,
