1,650 Individuals will be Invited to Apply for NZ Residency under the Samoa Quota for 2022

The draw for the Samoan Quota (SQ) and Pacific Access Category (PAC) is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 7 December 2022.

According to Immigration NZ, the list of successful registrants reference numbers “will be available on our website from Monday 12 December”.

The visa quotas for the PAC have been increased for the 2022 and 2023 ballots. They are now up from 75 to 150 Kiribati citizens, 75 to 150 Tuvaluan citizens, 250 to 500 Tongan citizens and from 250 to 500 Fijian citizens.

For the Samoan Quota (SQ), an additional 550 places to the original 1,100  have been allocated each year until 2026.

This means that 1,300 individuals will be invited to apply for residence under the PAC for the 2022 ballot, and 1,650 individuals will be invited to apply for residence under the SQ for the 2022 ballot.

When the categories reopened, the Government agreed to allocate the unused places from the 2020 and 2021 ballots, states Immigration MZ.

“For the Pacific Access Category, they will be re-allocated across the 2022 and 2023. The unused ballots under the Samoan Quota will be distributed across four years from 2022-2025.”

This means that 1,300 individuals will be invited to apply for residence under the PAC for the 2022 ballot, and 1,650 individuals will be invited to apply for residence under the SQ for the 2022 ballot.

Samoa Quota

The Samoa Quota is for Samoan citizens aged 18 – 45. There are 1100 places each year, with an additional 550 places offered each year until 2026.

According the NZ Immigration website, that makes it a total of 1650 places available annually.

With this visa you can

Live, work and study in New Zealand.

Include your partner, and dependent children aged 24 and under, in your residence application – if you first included them in your ballot registration.

Things to note

You or your partner must have a job offer that pays enough to support you and your family in New Zealand.

You must be able to read, write and speak English.

Pacific Access Category 

If you are from Kiribati, Tuvalu, Tonga or Fiji you can register for a ballot. If your registration is drawn from the ballot we may invite you to apply for residence.

Number of Visas

150 Kiribati citizens, 150 Tuvaluan citizens, 500 Tongan citizens, 500 Fijian citizens.

With this visa you can
