THE LORD HAD TOLD THE ISRAELITES, ‘YOU MUST NOT INTERMARRY WITH THEM, BECAUSE THEY WILL SURELY TURN YOUR HEARTS AFTER THEIR GODS.’ NEVERTHELESS SOLOMON HELD FAST TO THEM IN LOVE.”

Happy Tuesday Saints.

1 Kings 11:2 “…THE LORD HAD TOLD THE ISRAELITES, ‘YOU MUST NOT INTERMARRY WITH THEM, BECAUSE THEY WILL SURELY TURN YOUR HEARTS AFTER THEIR GODS.’ NEVERTHELESS SOLOMON HELD FAST TO THEM IN LOVE.”

Despite a clear command from God, King Solomon married foreign women who worshipped their foreign and false gods.

Verse 4 tells us that, “AS SOLOMON GREW OLD, HIS WIVES TURNED HIS HEART AFTER OTHER GODS, AND HE WAS NOT FULLY DEVOTED TO THE LORD.”

God gives us guidelines and instructions not to restrict us, but to protect us and keep us close to Him. When we choose to disobey His commands, we open ourselves up to the influence of things that can lead us away from Him.

Like Solomon, we may find ourselves drawn to things that seem appealing or desirable in the moment, but that ultimately lead us away from God. It could be relationships, habits, or desires that conflict with God’s will for our lives. When we hold on to these things in disobedience, we risk compromising our faith and, more importantly, our relationship and intimacy with God.

I encourage you to take this warning from Solomon’s life to heart and be vigilant in guarding your heart and mind against anything that could lead you away from God.

Seek to obey God’s commands wholeheartedly, trusting that His ways are always best for you. May you choose to love and serve the Lord above all else, keeping your heart pure and devoted to Him alone. Stay close to God, and may your life be a reflection of His great love and amazing grace.

Have a wonderful day. God bless and lots’a love,

Warren
