Samoa Commercial Bank (SCB) has stepped up as the first locally owned business to throw its support behind the hosting of the Pacific Games 2019 according to a press release from the Games organisers.
SCB will be the Official Bank for the upcoming Pacific Games with a sponsorship package valued at ST$2 million tala.
The announcement was made at a ceremony which also marked the signing of an MOU between SCB and Games Organising Committee, headed by Minister of Education, Sports & Culture, Loau Keneti Sio.
At the signing, Managing Director of SCB Lemalu Ray Ah Liki acknowledged the commitment that the Government of Samoa has made to host the upcoming games. He said that SCB are excited to support the Government and people of Samoa to ensure the smooth running of the XVI Pacific Games.
In his address, Lemalu made reference to the potential benefits that Samoa stands to receive from hosting the Games . He urged the people of Samoa to get behind the Government to support the Pacific Games.
The Minister expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Lemalu for their generous support.
“On behalf of the Government of Samoa, I would like to thank you, the board and management for your generosity towards Samoa’s preparations for the Games. We are grateful to have Samoa Commercial Bank on board as a Platinum sponsor for next year’s games. We cannot do this without your kind support, therefore, we are honoured that you have decided to come aboard and be one of the sponsors for the 2019 Pacific Games.”
