Under JAPAN’S GRANT ASSISTANCE FOR GRASS-ROOTS HUMAN SECURITY
PROJECT (GGP)
On March 15th, 2019 the Grant Contract Signing Ceremony of “The Project for the Construction of Hall for Faleata College”, was held at the office of the Embassy of Japan in Apia.
The project is funded through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP) scheme.
The Signing Ceremony was hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa, Maugaoleatuolo Shinya Aoki, and it was well attended by the Member of Parliament Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi as well as the President and members of the Faleata College Committee.
The project aims to construct a multipurpose hall for the school which had become more and more necessary, so they can cater for the many school functions including school assemblies, cultural programs, prize givings and inter college activities to name a few.
At the Signing Ceremony, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of proper and safe facilities, as well as Japan’s commitment to providing support to the Government of Samoa through these development projects at the grassroots level with the hope that this will strengthen the ties between the two governments.
This project will benefit the current 900+ students, 20 teachers, parents and communities living within the Faleata district as well as future students and teachers.
