The Court of Appeal today dismissed an appeal by former Manu Samoa coach Mase Mahonri Schwalger against his convictions on eight sexual offences.

The decision was delivered this morning by Justices Harrison, Young and Usher.

Schwalger’s conviction followed a two-week judge only trial before former Senior Supreme Court Justice Vui Clarence Nelson, who found him guilty of all eight charges.

Mase was found guilty in May 2026 of sexual assault involving two victims aged 14 and 19 at the time of the offending.

Last month Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke dismissed Schwalger’s application for a stay of sentence, but then ordered that Schwalger’s sentencing be adjourned until the Court of Appeal determines his appeal against his conviction.

The Court will set a sentencing date for Mase.
