The Samoa Police have this morning issued a Missing Person public notice seeking help to locate an 8 year old boy who is reported to have been missing since Thursday morning, 7th May 2026.
According to the public notice, Elija Sione, 8, was last seen at their home at Vaimea.
No other details are provided, including what clothes he may have been wearing, or the circumstances that led to the boy leaving his home.
“Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services appeals to the public for assistance in locating Elija Sione, male 8 years old from Vaimea.”
“Elija has been missing since Thursday morning, 7th May 2026 and was last seen at their home.”
“If anyone has any information regarding Elija’s whereabouts, please contact a nearby Police Station or call 8422222 or 22222.”
Children being reported missing and “last seen at their home” has become a regular occurrance in Samoa.
Photos of children are published and a few days later the Police say they have been found and returned to their homes.
The prevalence of domestic and sexual assault on children is well established in Samoa’s National Inquiry into Family Violence it is highly likely children are running away from home.
“Let’s work together for a Safer Samoa” means ensuring we are not returning children to unsafe environments.
