Happy Tuesday Saints.
Matthew 5:14-15 “YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, A TOWN BUILT ON A HILL CANNOT BE HIDDEN, NEITHER DO PEOPLE LIGHT A LAMP AND PUT IT UNDER A BOWL. INSTEAD, THEY PUT IT ON ITS STAND, AND IT GIVES LIGHT TO EVERYONE IN THE HOUSE.”
You are the light of the world. According to Romans 12:2, we are not supposed to be conformed to the pattern of this world, so God doesn’t want us to follow in its dark and destructive ways.
As we saw yesterday, a Christian is not a tiny village in a dark valley but “A TOWN BUILT ON A HILL.” A town that can be clearly seen from afar. It can’t be hidden.
God lit you up. And no one lights a lamp to “PUT IT UNDER A BOWL.” What’s the use in that? God didn’t light you up to hide you. He lit you up so that you can help those who are still stuck in the dark.
He wants you to be like a lamp on a stand that “GIVES LIGHT TO EVERYONE IN THE HOUSE.”
Have you ever lit a candle in a dark room? You can’t miss it. You have to hide it or cover it to stop others from seeing it.
Charles Spurgeon once wrote, “KEEPING CHRIST HIDDEN WITHIN US CAN NEVER BE JUSTIFIED, AND KEEPING BACK GOD’S PRECIOUS TRUTH IS A SIN AGAINST OTHERS AND AN OFFENCE AGAINST GOD.”
You are the light of the WORLD. You’ve got the Holy Spirit living inside of you. You’ve got His Holy Written Word filling your heart with wisdom and lighting your path. You’ve been blessed IN CHRIST to be a blessing to others.
While others are trying their best to do good, God renewed your spirit and made you good. You have the capacity IN CHRIST to do good works, and do them with a good heart.
He lit you up to give light to EVERYONE in the house, at work, on the field, in the office, in the gym, and in the marketplace. So step out boldly a let your light shine wherever you go.
Have a brilliant day. God bless and lots’a love,
