Youth Owns Up to Burglary but Rejects the Number of Hard Liquor Bottles he Stole

Translated from FaaSamoa. A youth from Vaivase Uta accepted that he had broken into a local bar, but told the Court that he did not take as much as the police had alleged in the charges against him.
Represented by Sifuiva Maureen Tuimalelifano, the youth appeared during Supreme Court mentions on Monday morning, charged with breaking into the popular Cocktails on the Rocks at Tauese Apia on the 26th of January 2023.
Police allege he stole 15 bottles of hard liquor and 50 bottles of Taula beer according to the charges before the Court.
However when asked how he pleaded, the young man insisted that he only took four bottles of liquor and three cases of Taula.
“E na o le fa fagu malosi ma le tolu pusa pia o le Taula na ou aveesea.”
The Court then heard that the youth is facing another charge of breaking and entering for an alleged incident in September 2022.
Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma adjourned case for a week to allow for Police to look into the discrepancy in what the youth claims he took, compared to Police records.
