When Jesus died on The Cross, He took the punishment for all our wrongdoings and paid for our Salvation

Happy Thursday Saints.

1Corinthians 1:18 “THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS IS FOOLISHNESS TO THOSE WHO ARE PERISHING, BUT TO US WHO ARE BEING SAVED, IT IS THE POWER OF GOD.”

To the Greeks, “THE CROSS” represented punishment. To the Jews, it was a tree of shame. It meant that the crucified person was cursed.

So, the thought of a God or Messiah being punished or cursed seemed so foolish to them. They couldn’t fathom a God who would endure the punishment and the shame of “THE CROSS.” To them, it seemed like a ridiculous idea to worship a God who’d let Himself be ridiculed, humiliated, and crucified.

We know from Hebrews 12 that Jesus endured the cross and disregarded the shame that came with it. He did it all because it was the only way to redeem mankind.

Galatians 3:13 says, “CHRIST HAS RESCUED US FROM THE CURSE PRONOUNCED BY THE LAW. WHEN HE WAS HUNG ON THE CROSS, HE TOOK UPON HIMSELF THE CURSE FOR OUR WRONGDOING. FOR IT IS WRITTEN IN THE SCRIPTURES, ‘CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO IS HUNG ON A TREE.'”

Jesus bore the punishment, the shame, and the penalty of our sins. He was cursed for our wrongdoing, and He died in our place.

The fact that He took upon Himself the sins of the world, the punishment of our trespasses, the penalty of our wrongdoings, and the curse of our law-breaking doesn’t make Him weak or an embarrassment to worship.

To us who are being saved, “THE CROSS” is a testimony of God’s love, mercy, and power. Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection are a display of Christ’s divinity. They prove His sovereignty, as only God could do what Jesus did. And all who are being saved will be eternally grateful for all that Jesus did to make us right with God. Hallelujah!
