Happy Monday Saints.
Psalm 56:3-4 “WHEN I AM AFRAID, I WILL TRUST IN YOU. IN GOD, WHOSE WORD I PRAISE, IN GOD I TRUST; I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT CAN MERE MORTALS DO TO ME?”
The verse above doesn’t use the word “IF” but “WHEN” I am afraid. There will be times in your life when you WILL BE afraid.
This prayer is being uttered by King David – the giant slayer. And this courageous man of war wasn’t exempt from the occasional bout of fear.
According to the preceding verses, David’s adversaries were “TRAMPLING” and “OPPRESSING” him “ALL DAY LONG.” So naturally, he was feeling “AFRAID.”
But David knew who to turn to WHEN he was afraid. He attributed all His victories to the Lord. He knew that without God, he couldn’t be the conqueror that he was.
WHEN David was AFRAID, He fixed his eyes on the Lord. With a new perspective, he could see that his adversaries, who were “MERE MORTALS”, couldn’t compare to the Almighty.
Knowing what to do and Who to turn to WHEN we are afraid will change how we face life’s challenges. We shouldn’t be paralysed with fear. Fear shouldn’t make us quit. The only thing that fear should do is turn our hearts towards the Lord.
We don’t have to remain in a constant state of fear. When we fix our eyes and turn our hearts towards the Lord, He gives us peace and reminds us that He is with us.
“DO NOT BE AFRAID, ALARMED, OR TERRIFIED BECAUSE OF THEM. FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS THE ONE WHO GOES WITH YOU TO FIGHT AGAINST YOUR ENEMIES TO GIVE YOU VICTORY.” Deuteronomy 20:3-4
So don’t ignore your fear. Don’t let it linger and paralyse you. Let it move you closer to God. No matter what you may be facing – HE GOES WITH YOU and will GIVE YOU VICTORY.
Have a great week in the Lord, who is your refuge and strength. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
