Happy Thursday Saints.
Matthew 5:43-45 “YOU HAVE HEARD THAT IT WAS SAID, ‘LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AND HATE YOUR ENEMY.’ BUT I TELL YOU, LOVE YOUR ENEMIES AND PRAY FOR THOSE WHO PERSECUTE YOU, THAT YOU MAY BE CHILDREN OF YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN. HE CAUSES HIS SUN TO RISE ON THE EVIL AND THE GOOD, AND SENDS RAIN ON THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE UNRIGHTEOUS.”
As God’s children, we are to love others regardless of how they treat us. We must DO GOOD to those who hate us, BLESS those who curse us, and PRAY for those who persecute and mistreat us.
Just as God CAUSES HIS SUN TO RISE ON THE EVIL AND THE GOOD, AND SENDS RAIN ON THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE UNRIGHTEOUS – we must DO GOOD, BLESS and PRAY for the loving and unloving equally.
Whether people are good or evil, righteous or unrighteous, kind or unkind, supportive or unsupportive, encouraging or discouraging, working with us or against us – it doesn’t matter how we feel about them – we are to love them sacrificially. We are to put our own feelings aside and DO GOOD.
We can show our enemies what the love of God looks like. Just as God demonstrated His love to us by sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins while we were still His enemies – we can DEMONSTRATE God’s love by DOING GOOD to those who are still our enemies.
Perhaps this kind of sacrificial love will turn the hearts of your enemies toward YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN and inspire them to place their hope in Christ.
