We are Sharpened and Strengthened through the People God Places in our Lives

THE VALUE OF GODLY FRIENDS

Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

From the very beginning, God said, “It is not good for man to be alone.”

We were created for connection. No one grows strong in isolation. Just as iron sharpens when it strikes against iron, so we are sharpened and strengthened through the people God places in our lives.

Godly friends are more than good company—they are a gift that helps us grow in faith. They encourage us when we are weary, correct us when we are drifting, and challenge us to keep pressing toward Christ when we’re tempted to settle for less.

True friendship isn’t about comfort alone, but about sharpening one another for God’s purposes.

So ask yourself: Who sharpens me in my walk with Christ? Am I allowing space for those relationships, or am I isolating myself from the very people who want to see me grow?

Without strong, healthy friendships, there is no one to stretch us, challenge us, and help us reach our full potential in Christ.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of godly friends who point me to You. Teach me to receive their encouragement and correction with humility, and help me to be a faithful friend who sharpens others in love and truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Have a wonderful day. God bless, and lots’a love,

Warren
