A man has been seen walking from door to door in the Ululoloa-Siusega area, asking for money.
A member of Ululoa’s Neighborhood Watch Group raised the alert when this man, who is often seen approaching people for money in the Apia town area, started knocking on doors in a residential area.

“Beware of this guy my fellow neighbors.. He cons everyone in town for money and yesterday, he went to my parent’s home in Siusega and told them that he works at the Orator Hotel..”
The scammer claimed he worked at the nearby Orator Hotel. He said the staff shuttle had broken down, and he needed money to get home.
Owner of Orator Hotel, Fiaailetoa Charlotte Chan Mow Brunt, has confirmed the hotel has never employed this person.
Other residents have reported that the same man was has in the Pesega area targeting vehicles with the same story about needing money to get home from work.
“When we were trying to leave, he just kept hanging onto the truck and asking for money.”
He has also been reported spinning another story, about needing money for his hungry children.
Another member of the Ululoloa Neighbourhood Watch said this man knocked on her gate on Wednesday morning (yesterday) at around 11am. He quickly left when the family’s dogs started barking at him.
“All the time, his eyes were fixed on my son’s laundry on the line..”
Incidents of burglary and theft as well as scammers – in person and online – have increased in Samoa with the prevalence of methamphetamine on the rise.
Duncan Ah Hi, captured yesterday after a Wanted poster was issued last week, got away from a Police car chase in the Ululoloa neighbourhood last month.

A member of the Ululoloa Neighbourhood Watch had taken a photo of Duncan in his car before he escaped.
Notorious criminal and prison escapee Lauititi Tualima was also captured at Ululoloa in a search operation led by Deputy Police Commissioner Leiataualesa Samuelu Afamasaga.

Members of the Neighborhood Watch had sent up a drone on that day to assist with the massive police chase that ended in Lauititi’s capture and return to Tanumalala.
Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo said the Ululoloa Neighbourhood Watch Group is a great initiative that should be encouraged across all neighbourhoods in Samoa.
Auapaau commended the members of the Ululoloa-Siusega community for the way they support one another and ensure information and warnings are sent out in a timely manner.
“Faleata Police Depot are well aware of the Ululoloa Neighbourhood Watch group and will work together with them to help keep families and communities safe.”
