Vodafone Supports Uso Satalo Rugby Sevens

Sat 26 Sept 2020, Falealili. Vodafone Samoa is supporting the Satalo Rugby Club Sevens for the district of Falealili, being played amongst 12 teams at the village Primary School grounds today.

Teams from all villages of the Falealili District are competing in a 4-week Sevens tournament that aims to develop grassroots rugby and provide a platform for village youth to participate and build skills in a game they all love to play.

The man behind the tournament, is long time rugby development pioneer Soi Lalovi, also a radio and television personality recently contracted to promote Samoa Airways.

“This initiative is for the young players of Falealili so that they can develop skills and get used to playing consistently in competition, week in week out,” said Soi.

“We are grateful to Vodafone for supporting our Falealili community. Many spectators have changed their sims today and switched to Vodafone Samoa”, added Soi.

Moe Letufuga of Salani and Utulaelae changed his sim and received prizes.

Visiting the grounds at Satalo Primary School, was Vodafone Marketing Executive Seve Tanya Chadwick who said Vodafone is supporting five other events around Upolu today, and all their executives are out and about to support the community initiatives.

“There is the Laumei Outrigger Regata at Mulinuu, the Vodafone Samoa Touch the Crown finals at Tuanaimato, the USP Business Management Class running a tournament at Fagalii Golf Course, and the Upolu Savaii Boxing Ring at Vaitele.

The Satalo Sevens tournament is on its third leg today. Vaovai Rugby Club took the first leg of the tournament edging out Satalo in the finals. Last week for the second leg, Sapunaoa took the cup beating Poutasi in the finals.

All teams are developing patterns and improving on team structure and individual skillsĀ  each week.

This is evident by the semi finals for this weeks third leg being played between four Falealili village teams who have not yet won a leg.

Semi Final 1: Salani vs Falealili College

Semi Final 2: Satalo vs Poutasi.

5th Place Final: Sapunaoa vs Malaemalu
