04 July 2020. Apia. Samoa. Please note that the Vaisigano Bridge has switched direction this morning. Commuters can now travel from Apia towards Matautu past the Sheraton hotel.
This morning many travellers who had not seen the LTA notice were thrown by the change, except for this vehicle seen at 9am this morning, which had been let through.
The Land Transport Authority had issued ample notice earlier this week, as set out below:
IMPORTANT NOTICE
SWITCHING OF TRAFFIC DIRECTION FOR THE VAISIGANO BRIDGE PROJECT
The Authority wishes to inform the travelling public that there will be a trial run for the switching of traffic direction to allow for traffic from Apia to Matautu and Moataa from Friday 3rd July at 5PM to 6AM Monday 6th of July.
Access will be prohibited from Matautu and Moataa heading to Apia during the times specified above and a one-way access will be allowed from Apia to Matautu and Moataa. All motorists are respectfully advised to use alternative routes as highlighted on the maps attached.
We kindly ask all motorists to drive safely and adhere to the road signs in the vicinity. We regret the inconvenience this will cause and request for your assistance and cooperation for a long-term improvement of our road network.
