Vaafauese Apelu-Maliko Named in Hong Kong 7s Dream Team

Samoa’s Vaafauese Apelu Maliko has been named in the World Sevens Series Dream Team following his stellar performance at the Hong Kong leg of the HSBC series over the weekend.

The Manu Samoa 7’s Co-Captain crossed over for eight tries in Hong Kong and with sheer determination, made another try saving tackle in Samoa’s quarter final match against Argentina.

The 23 year old forward from the Tepatasi club in Aleipata has also been named DHL impact player of the Hong Kong tournament alongside Aaron Grandidier of France.

Last season, Apelu-Maliko was the DHL Impact player of the London leg of the series and in Toulouse, he and Uaina Sione were also named in the Dream Team.

The Manu Samoa finished fourth in Hong Kong, bowing out in the semifinal to France with a narrow two point margin.

The Manu is pooled with USA, Canada, and Japan in the second leg of the season hosted in Dubai.
