Happy Monday Saints.
Galatians 5:14-15 “FOR THE ENTIRE LAW IS FULFILLED IN KEEPING THIS ONE COMMAND: ‘LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ IF YOU BITE AND DEVOUR EACH OTHER, WATCH OUT OR YOU WILL BE DESTROYED BY EACH OTHER.”
The Greek word translated “BITE” means “to bite with teeth.” Metaphorically, it means “to wound with words.”
We all know that our words have the ability to wound others. They can cut a person’s heart and make them feel hurt and discouraged.
This is the opposite of love. 1Corinthians 8:1 tells us that “LOVE EDIFIES.” It builds others up; it doesn’t break them down.
If you love others as yourself – you will treat them how you want to be treated. You will be merciful the same way you would like to be shown mercy after you mess up. You will be forgiving, kind, gentle, understanding, and encouraging because these are all things you want to receive from others.
We can’t expect others to treat us with honour and respect when we behave disrespectfully.
Too many families, churches, organisations, businesses and teams are being “DESTROYED” because the people within them are BITING and DEVOURING one another with their words.
Jesus said in Matthew 12:25 that “EVERY CITY OR HOUSEHOLD DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF WILL NOT STAND.”
If you’ve recently experienced an increase in division and strife – consider whether or not you have been a part of the problem. Do you need to change the way you talk?
Use your words to love, edify and build others up this week. Be an agent of peace and harmony within your home and your sphere of influence. Let your love for God inspire you to treat others with kindness and respect.
Have a great day.
God bless, and lots’a love,
Warren
