Special Weather Bulletin Number TEN ISSUED FROM RSMC NADI at 8:30AM on Thursday the 17th of December 2020.

A SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE YASA CENTRE 906HPA CATEGORY 5 WAS LOCATED NEAR 15.3 SOUTH 176.1 EAST OR ABOUT 220 KILOMETRES NORTHWEST OF YASAWA-I-RARA, 300 KILOMETRES NORTH NORTHWEST OF NADI AND 320 KILOMETRES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF ROTUMA AT 3:00AM TODAY. CLOSE TO ITS CENTRE THE CYCLONE IS EXPECTED TO HAVE AVERAGE WINDS UP TO 240 KM/HR WITH MOMENTARY GUSTS TO 345 KM/HR. THE CYCLONE IS MOVING EAST-SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 16 KM/HR.

ON THIS TRACK, THE CYCLONE CENTRE IS EXPECTED TO BE LOCATED ABOUT 50 KILOMETRES NORTH OF YASAWA-I-RARA, ABOUT 170 KILOMETRES NORTH OF NADI AND 180KM WEST OF LABASA AT 3PM TODAY AND ABOUT 80 KILOMETRES EAST OF YASWA-I-RARA, ABOUT 100 KILOMETRES WSW OF LABASA AND ABOUT 140 KILOMETRES NORTH OF SUVA AT 9PM TONIGHT.
