Manu Samoa 7’s finished day 1 of the London leg undefeated after beating France, Australia and Spain in their pool matches.
Their success on Day 1, however, came at a consequence as they suffered two injuries to halfback Neueli Leitufia and utility back Malo Luteru.
Luteru took a nasty shoulder to the head that left him laying still, concussed for several minutes before having to be carted off the field.
The concussion has ruled the Uafato Fagaloa native out for the rest of the tournament.
Leitufia broke his wrist in the match against Australia which also rules him out of the tournament.
Dubbed the smallest man on the field with the biggest heart, the Laulii halfback has been a crucial part of Samoa’s 2022/2023 campaign, now sadly added to the Manu’s ever growing list of injuries.
Luteru and Leitufia now join Paul Scanlan, Steve Onosa’i, BJ Telefoni Lima, Levi Milford and Faamaoni Suetena to Muliagatele’s injured players list.
Despite the injuries the show must go on and it will so against host nation Great Britain in the Cup Quarter Finals later tonight.
Samoa face Great Britain at 10:07p. (Samoa Time).
