Samoa Covid-19 Situational Report Wed 04th – Fri 06th May 2022.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed two new deaths, a 36 year old male and an elderly 94 year old woman, both of whom are reported to have been unvaccinated.
1) a 36 year old male with no known comorbidities and was unvaccinated.
2) a 94 year old female with no known comorbidities and was also unvaccinated
“Our prayers and condolences are with the families and children of the persons who have passed away. Out of respect for the families and relatives, we will not be making any further comments”.
The Ministry of Health once again, continue to urge members of the public to get vaccinated.
“Vaccination remains the best defense against the Covid-19 pandemic. Keeping our families and loved ones safe is everyone’s responsibility…”
The two new Covid-19 related deaths within this reporting period, takes the official death toll to 22, however, according to the MOH reports, there are other deaths amongst recorded positive cases that are not primarily caused by Covid-19.
The number of those who were Covid-19 positive, but whose deaths are not considered by MOH as “primarily” caused by Covid-19, is not made available to the public.
There are 267 new community cases recorded in the 2 day period of the report, and six cases in managed isolation at the Moto’otua Hospital as of last Friday 6th May 2022.
There is now a four-day delay in the reports being distributed – today being Tuesday 10th May 2022.
The public is again urged to please stay home and isolate if you are feeling unwell or if you know you’ve been in close contact with a positive case.
The public are also urged to adhere to SOE Orders and practice safe personal hygiene at all times including the requirement to wear face masks and keep to the 2 meter social distancing in public places.
Many are seen not wearing masks anymore, and ignoring the 2-metre distancing rule.
