Tuuu Anasii Secures Parliamentary Seat for Siumu

15 July 2021, Apia Samoa. Tuuu Anasi’i Leota has secured his seat in Parliament after a fellow HRPP, Tuuu Amaramo Sialaoa declared his intention to withdraw a petition filed against him.

The matter went before the Supreme Court on Thursday morning during call-overs and Chief Justice Satiu Simativa Perese has adjourned to next Thursday to allow for the seven days of advertisement before the withdrawal can be made official.

Tu’u’u Anasi’i first entered Parliament in 1996. He is a senior member of the Human Rights Protection Party and a member of the accounting profession who also served as Minister of Revenue.  He lost his seat in the 2016 election to Faalogo Iosefa Sopi after four consecutive terms as the Siumu MP.

At the April 9th general election he was re-elected, polling 633 to his petitioner’s 391. Si’umu constituency comprises the villages of Si’umu, Si’umu Uta, Maninoa and Sa’aga.
