Leader of the opposition, Hon Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegaoi has sent a congratulatory letter to newly elected Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
“Heartiest Congratulations on your appointment as leader of the new Government of Fiji,” says Tuilaepa.
“Both Samoa and Fiji have always been working together in the Pacific Leaders Forum for the improvement of the lives of our people.
Tuilaepa tells Rabuka that the Pacific is facing many challenges that requires “urgent regional and international co-operation of all our members in the Pacific.”
Born September 1948, Rt Hon Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka CF, OBE, OStJ, MSD born 13 September 1948) was announced Prime Minister of Fiji on 24 December 2022.
Rabuka instigated two military coups in 1987. He was democratically elected as Prime Minister of Fiji, serving from 1992 to 1999, and again in 2022 leading a three-party coalition.
Rabuka also served as Chairman of mthe Great Council of Chiefs from 1999 to 2001.
